Biography:
Single...graduated from Sabino (AZ) High School in 2001...played baseball in high school...All-State selection in 1999, 2000 and 2001...All-American in 2001...member of the U.S.A. Junior National team in 2000 that won the silver medal in Edmonton, Canada...played for the U.S.A. Olympic Qualifying team in 2003...favorite movie is "The Rock"...favorite food is steak..favorite place to vacation is Montana...if not in baseball, would have been a firefighter...people he respects most outside of baseball are his parents...father was a professional tennis player and mother was a professional golfer.
Batted .277 with 26 HR and 80 RBI in 151 games as he
established career highs in every offensive category...Made 145 starts, all at shortstop...Was selected to his first All-Star Game.....entered the
game on defense and walked off Seattle's J.J. Putz in the
ninth inning...From 4/19-5/8 had a career-high 19-game hitting streak
(33-79, .418, 8hr, 23rbi).....tied for the fifth-longest streak
in franchise history...Collected 4 home runs over 3 games from 4/19-4/21 to
become the first Brewers shortstop ever with that many
home runs over a 3-game stretch...Recorded his first career 2-homer game on 4/21 vs.
Houston.....also did it on 8/17 vs. Cincinnati...Was named Brewers Player of the Month for April as he
batted .282 with 6 HR and 17 RBI...Tied his career high with 4 hits twice: 5/1 vs. St. Louis and
5/4 vs. Pittsburgh...Belted a grand slam, the second of his career, on 5/12 at
New York-NL off Joe Smith...Made the last out of Justin Verlander's no-hitter on a fly
ball to right field on 6/12 at Detroit...On 8/10 at Houston snapped a season-high streak of 35
games and 139 at-bats without a home run with a solo
shot off Jason Jennings.....ironically, his previous home
run was also off Jennings on 6/25 at Miller Park...On 9/22 at Atlanta hit the Brewers' 217th home run of the
season to break the franchise record (216hr, 1982).....the
Brewers would finish with 231 home runs.....his home
run, a 2-run shot, also broke up a John Smoltz no-hitter
