Carlos Silva made an early exit in the series opener, giving up seven runs in 3 2/3 innings. The Twins' bats couldn't dig out of that hole, with their lone runs scoring via Mike Redmond's RBI single, a wild pitch and Jason Bartlett's solo homer.
