Twins name Triple-A Rochester coaching staff
By Andrew Simon / Special to MLB.com
The Red Wings went 72-72 in International League play under Glynn last season, their best record in four years. Rochester improved by 19 wins over 2011, despite using 56 different players, 23 of whom were promoted by the Twins.
Next season will be Glynn's seventh season as a Minor League manager and his second at Triple-A. He also has coached at the big league level for four different organizations and was a pro scout for the Rays from 2007-11.
Mason and Doherty are replacing Bobby Cuellar and Tom Brunansky, both of whom the Twins have promoted to their big league staff.
Mason comes to the Red Wings after spending the past two years as a pitching coach in the Cubs' Minor League system. Before that, he spent 25 years in the Cardinals organization, including the final 11 as the Major League bullpen coach.
Doherty was an assistant with the Red Sox big league staff last season, primarily helping out hitting coach Dave Magadan. He spent the previous nine seasons with the Kansas City T-Bones of the independent American Association, first as a hitting coach and then as a manager.
