St. Peter: No plans to alter Target Field dimensions
By Rhett Bollinger / MLB.com
The team has no plans to alter the heights of the outfield walls, and the black spruce trees that were behind the center-field wall in 2010 will also not be returning, St. Peter said. The trees were removed after the 2010 season after hitters complained they were a distraction.
"Like all aspects of Target Field, the Twins will continue to engage in regular review and study of playability issues such as these," St. Peter said an e-mail to reporters. "It remains our goal to ensure the best possible facility for our fans, players and staff."
The number of home runs increased at Target Field in 2012, as there were 2.05 homers per game there compared to 1.56 in 2011 and 1.43 in 2010.
