Bullpen coach released from hospital

Twins' Stelmaszek resting at home after feeling 'groggy'

MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins bullpen coach Rick Stelmaszek is out of the hospital and resting comfortably at home, manager Ron Gardenhire said Tuesday.

Stelmaszek, 60, was taken to United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., on Monday after he complained of feeling groggy. The coach endured some health problems last year, suffering two seizures in January 2008 at his home in Chicago.

Gardenhire said that the doctors changed the levels of Stelmaszek's medication while he was in the hospital, and that seemed to help the problem.

"He's feeling a lot better," Gardenhire said. "We're going to give him a couple days here, and then he should rejoin us."

The expectation is that if everything goes according to plan, Stelmaszek will be back with the team Thursday and will make this weekend's trip to his hometown, Chicago.

On Monday, Stelmaszek missed being in uniform for Opening Day for the first time since the Metrodome opened in 1982.
