Punto first injured his left hamstring in early May. He spent three weeks on the DL, rehabbing the injury, before returning to the Twins on May 31. But Punto was almost immediately reinjured while playing against the Yankees in his first game back on the FieldTurf of the Metrodome, and he was placed on the disabled list again."We worked him in last time before he was ready, so we are going to try not to do that part again," Gardenhire said. "Let's make sure we get him healthy." Matt Macri, meanwhile, was forced to leave Friday's game against Arizona with a strained left calf. It was a reaggravation of an injury he suffered earlier this year while with the club's Triple-A affiliate. The infielder is listed as day-to-day. He said on Friday that this version of the injury wasn't as bad as when he first suffered it. Macri's MRI revealed the old strain, along with small amounts of fluid around the calf. Macri told Gardenhire prior to Saturday's game that he could play if needed, but he was not called upon.
