Twins Acquire Lester Oliveros To Complete Delmon Young Trade

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Lester Oliveros from the Detroit Tigers as the player to be named later in yesterday's trade.

Oliveros began the season with Double-A Erie, going 2-0, 0.53 ERA (17.0 ip, 1 er), with four walks and 28 strikeouts in 10 appearances, holding opponents to a .193 (11-for-57) batting average. He was promoted to Triple-A Toledo on May 5 and went 1-3, 6.43 ERA (28.0 ip, 20 er) with five saves, 17 walks and 26 strikeouts in 22 appearances.

Oliveros was recalled by Detroit and made his Major League debut on July 1 vs. San Francisco. He appeared in nine games for the Tigers, going 0-0, 5.63 ERA (8.0 ip, 5 er) with four walks and four strikeouts. He has been assigned to Triple-A Rochester.
