Minnesota Twins Announce Plans for Exhibition Games
Twins to play historic first-ever big league games at Target Field April 2 & 3 – presented by Mayo Clinic

The Minnesota Twins today announced plans for the exhibition games against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, April 2 at 5:10 p.m. and Saturday, April 3 at 1:10 p.m. During the exhibition series presented by Mayo Clinic, the Twins will take the field for the first time ever at their new home, Target Field. All fans in attendance at these games will receive the official Target Field Fan Guide. The Twins also plan several special events prior to the start of both games. Friday, April 2

Twins vs. St. Louis Cardinals

  • 2:45 p.m. – The Twins unveil the Rod Carew bronze legend statue on Target Plaza, created by local artist Bill Mack
  • 3:00 p.m. – Gates Open
  • 4:20 p.m. – On-field parade featuring construction workers who helped build Target Field
  • 4:40 p.m. – A video tribute to the construction workers
  • 4:45 p.m. – The Twins unveil retired numbers of Twins legends in the left field corner
  • 4:50 p.m. – The Twins introduce members of the Richfield American Legion, who returned the Metropolitan Stadium flagpole back to the Twins for use at Target Field
  • 4:53 p.m. – The National Anthem is sung by members of the Mortenson Construction Choir
  • 5:00 p.m. – Ceremonial first pitches by members of the Minnesota Ballpark Authority
  • 5:05 p.m. – The Twins starting lineup is read for the first time at Target Field
  • 5:10 p.m. – Play Ball!

Saturday, April 3 – Twins vs. St. Louis Cardinals

  • 10:45 a.m. – The Twins unveil the Harmon Killebrew bronze legend statue on Target Plaza, created by local artist Bill Mack
  • 11:00 a.m. – Gates Open
  • 12:25 p.m. – On-field parade featuring construction workers who helped build Target Field
  • 12:47 p.m. – A video tribute to the construction workers
  • 12:53 p.m. – The National Anthem is sung by members of the Mortenson Construction Choir
  • 1:02 p.m. – Ceremonial first pitches by legislators who contributed to the creation of Target Field
  • 1:10 p.m. – Play Ball!

Target Field, one of America's most urban ballparks, is located in the historic Warehouse district of downtown Minneapolis. Designed by Populous (formerly HOK Sport) with Mortenson Construction serving as construction manager, the 39,504 seat ballpark is slated for completion prior to Opening Day 2010 at a construction cost of $440 million. The Twins and Target Corporation announced a historic 25-year naming agreement for Target Field and Target Plaza on September 15, 2008.
