Twins announce plans for final Metrodome season
Highlights include throwback uniforms, All-Dome Team and fan giveaways; season-long campaign culminates with final series vs. KC Oct. 2-4

MINNEAPOLIS - ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Twins, set to begin playing at Target Field in 2010, today announced plans for a 2009 promotional campaign commemorating the team's final season in the H.H.H. Metrodome.
The home of Twins baseball since 1982, the Metrodome has hosted some of the greatest moments in club history including the 1987 and 1991 World Series Championships; the 2002 American League Championship Series; the 2002-2004 and 2006 American League Division Series; and the 1985 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. In addition, some of the premier players in Twins history have called the Metrodome home including Kirby Puckett, Kent Hrbek, Frank Viola, Gary Gaetti, Rick Aguilera, Paul Molitor, Johan Santana, Torii Hunter, Joe Nathan, Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer.
"The HHH Metrodome is synonymous with Twins baseball for an entire generation of Upper Midwest baseball fans," said Twins President Dave St. Peter. "While the Dome will never be considered a great baseball facility, it's been the home to so many memorable moments, great games and great players. We truly look forward to commemorating the Twins 28-year Metrodome history while anticipating the move to Target Field in 2010." Some of the ways the Twins plan to commemorate the Final Metrodome Season include:
Final Season Logo - Will be prominently displayed in the Metrodome, on official commemorative baseballs to be used during all Twins home games and on the team's uniforms throughout the 2009 season.
Throwback Uniform - Twins players will wear a circa 1982 throwback uniform on every home Saturday during the 2009 season. The uniforms are modeled after the version worn during the team's first-ever Metrodome season. Authentic throwback jerseys are now available for fans to purchase for $169.95 without numbers or $215 with numbers exclusively at the Twins Pro Shops in Roseville, Apple Valley and Minnetonka.
Metrodome Memories - The Twins will feature a season-long recap of the team's "Top 100 Metrodome Memories" at every home game in 2009.
All-Time Metrodome Team - The Twins will name an All-Metrodome team during the summer of 2009 with fans participating in the voting process.
Final Series/Final Game - A series of special events will take place during the Twins final regular season series Oct. 2-4 vs. the Kansas City Royals - culminating in a special post-game tribute following the final home game.
Countdown to Target Field - Will continue each home game with former players and other VIPs participating in the ceremonies.
