MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have agreed to terms with shortstop Adam Everett on a one-year contract for the 2008 season.

Everett, 30, was limited to 66 games with the Astros last season after suffering a fractured right fibula on June 14. He batted .232 (51-for-220) with 11 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 15 rbi. Everett played in 302 games over the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He has a career batting average of .248 (531-for-2145) with 102 doubles, 14 triples, 35 home runs and 214 rbi in 649 games.

The 6-foot-0, 170-pounder was originally selected by the Boston Red Sox in the first round (12th overall) of the 1998 First-Year Player Draft. He was traded to Houston along with pitcher Greg Miller in exchange for outfielder Carl Everett on December 16, 1999.
