Twins agree to terms with Mike Redmond on two-year extension

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have agreed to terms with catcher Mike Redmond on a two-year contract extension with a club option for 2009.

Redmond, 35, is batting .333 (38-114) with eight doubles and 14 rbi in 29 games this season. Since signing with the Twins as a free agent prior to the 2005 season, Redmond has played in 74 games, batting .321 (84-262) with 17 doubles, one homer and 40 rbi.

Redmond has a 1.000 (466 TC, 0 E) fielding percentage since the beginning of 2005 and has thrown out 6 of 16 (38%) runners attempting to steal this season and 134 of 398 (34%) in his career.
