MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Twins will present their fourth annual Armed Services Appreciation Day presented by Qwest on Sunday, July 2 (1:10 p.m.) when the Twins host the Milwaukee Brewers.

Special pregame ceremonies are planned to recognize current and former members of the U.S. military, including a special tribute to the "Twins Platoon," a group of Vietnam veterans who were sworn into active duty before a June 1967 Twins home game.

In tribute to the men and women serving our country, Twins and Brewers players and coaches will wear caps during the July 1 and 2 games representing the five branches of the Armed Services - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. After the games, the caps will be autographed and auctioned to assist the Minnesota Military Family Foundation. The first 2,500 fans will receive "America Supports You" dog tags provided by Qwest.

Current and former members of the United States Armed Services may obtain four FREE Upper Club tickets for that afternoon's game provided by the Twins Community Fund's TwinsCare ticket donation program.

TwinsCare is funded by Twins players, fans, corporate and foundation partners. Proof of military service is required. Complimentary tickets may be obtained from the Gate H tent on the day-of-game only.

In cooperation with Qwest and the Minnesota Army National Guard, the Twins will also provide pre-selected families of deployed Minnesota soldiers serving in Iraq the opportunity to communicate from the Metrodome via live video links prior to and during the game.

As part of FSN North's weeklong "Operation Home Base," FSN North will broadcast the Saturday, July 1 Twins versus Milwaukee Brewers game (6:10 p.m.) commercial-free. The commercial breaks and in-game promotions will be replaced with live reports from Iraq, greetings from soldiers to their families, and humaninterest stories, featuring military families from communities throughout the North region. Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty will participate in the telecast to support the Minnesota Military Family Foundation.

Tickets are available for all Twins home games and may be purchased by calling 612-33-TWINS, 800-33-TWINS, logging on to www.twinsbaseball.com, or visiting a Twins Pro Shop in Apple Valley, Minnetonka, and Roseville, or the Twins' Metrodome ticket office.
