Twins announce 2005 home schedule
Home opener slated for April 8 vs. Chicago White Sox at the Dome
MINNEAPOLIS - ST PAUL, MN -- The American League Central Division Champion Minnesota Twins today announced the club's 2005 home regular season schedule which features interleague play against Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants, the San Diego Padres, and the neighboring Milwaukee Brewers.
The Twins will open their 45th season on the road Monday, April 4 at Seattle. Following the season-opening series against the Mariners, the Twins return to Minnesota for their home opener on Friday, April 8 (7:10 pm) when the Chicago White Sox visit the Metrodome to begin a three-game series (April 8-10).
The Twins 2005 interleague play schedule features a home weekend visit May 20-22 from the Milwaukee Brewers, and a homestand versus Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants Tuesday, June 14 through Thursday, June 16 and the San Diego Padres Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19. The Twins will visit the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers in addition to a series at Miller Park against the Brewers for the road portion of interleague play.
Other home schedule highlights include series against the New York Yankees (June 3-5), Boston Red Sox (August 5-7), Oakland Athletics (August 1-4), and Anaheim Angels (April 29-May 1 and July 14-17).
Seven American League teams will travel to Minnesota just once during the 2005 season while the Twins will make just one trip to seven cities. Baltimore, Boston, New York, Oakland, Seattle, Tampa Bay and Toronto play one series at the Metrodome and the Twins will travel to Anaheim, Baltimore, Boston, New York, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Texas and Toronto just once during the 2005 regular season. The Twins will host Central Division rivals Cleveland, Chicago, Kansas City and Detroit for three series and travel to those respective cities for three series each.
