tickets for any Major League Baseball game
Oakland Athletics outfielder Eric Byrnes, who ranked among league leaders in almost every offensive category, has been named the winner of the Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week for the week of July 26-August 1. Bank of America, the official bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the American League and National League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect the bank's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

Byrnes paced the AL with 22 total bases and tied for the League lead with nine RBI. In seven games, he batted .440 (11-for-25) with seven runs scored, two doubles, three homers, an .880 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. Byrnes had three three-hit games last week, including his third two-homer game of the season on Friday at Texas. He also had a team-high four RBI in Oakland's 14-5 win over Seattle last Monday.

Other candidates for the weekly award included Byrnes' teammate Eric Chavez (.346, 3 HR, 6 RBI); Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki (AL-best .500, 18 hits); Anaheim's Robb Quinlan (.440, 2 HR, 7 RBI); Baltimore's Jerry Hairston (.455) and Javy Lopez (.400, 3 HR, 6 RBI); Detroit's Carlos Guillen (.320, 2 HR, 9 RBI); and Alex Rodriguez (.346, AL-high 4 HR, 7 RBI) of the New York Yankees.

The pitchers on this week's ballot were Bartolo Colón (2-0, 1.38 ERA) of the Angels; Sidney Ponson (1-0, 1.00 ERA, CG) of the Orioles; Minnesota's Johan Santana (2-0, 1.93 ERA, AL-high 18 SO); Mark Mulder (1-0, 2.00 ERA, CG) and Mark Redman (2-0, 2.70 ERA) of the Athletics; and Tampa Bay's Dewon Brazelton (2-0, 2.13 ERA) and Mark Hendrickson (1-0, 0.00 ERA, CG).

Tourneau, the world's largest watch store, is proud to award the Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week winner Eric Byrnes with a Tourneau luxury Swiss timepiece from its Safari collection.
