    Prior to tonight's game against the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez was returned from his injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket and activated from the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the 25-man roster, right-handed pitcher Heath Hembree was optioned to Pawtucket following yesterday's game against the Orioles. Rodriguez will start tonight's game against Baltimore at Camden Yards beginning at 7:05 p.m.

    The Boston Red Sox announced today that right-handed pitcher Carson Smith will undergo ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery (Tommy John) on his right elbow today. The procedure will be performed this afternoon by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY.

  • Red Sox activate right-handed pitcher Joe Kelly from 15-day DL

    Kelly, who was placed on the disabled list with a right shoulder impingement on April 20, made three rehab starts with the PawSox, going 1-0 with a 1.26 ERA (2 ER/14.1 IP) and .222 opponent batting average.
