Giants prospects Panik, Kickham shine in Fresno win
Second baseman homers to back left-hander's eight scoreless innings
A pair of Giants prospects led Triple-A Fresno to a 5-0 victory against Albuquerque on Thursday. Second baseman Joe Panik (No. 14) hit his first Triple-A home run and left-hander Mike Kickham (No. 17) threw eight scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season.
Panik finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk and is now hitting .317. It was the third consecutive multi-hit game for the Giants' 2011 first-rounder.
Kickham worked efficiently, throwing 93 pitches in eight innings. He struck out five batters, walked one and allowed five hits. He lowered his ERA to 3.00 in five starts this season.
Kickham and reliever Adam Reifer quieted Albuquerque's powerful offense. Joc Pederson, the Dodgers' No. 2 prospect, and Alex Guerrero, their big offseason free-agent signing from Cuba, combined to go 0-for-7 in the game.
