Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced tonight that they will place first baseman Justin Morneau on the 15-day disabled list on Monday (retroactive to May 1) with a sore right wrist.

In 20 games with the Twins this season, Morneau is batting .230 (17-for-74) with five doubles, four home runs and nine rbi.

To replace Morneau on the 25-man roster, the Twins will select the contract of infielder Brian Dozier from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.  Dozier appeared in 28 games with the Red Wings, batting .276 (29-for-105) with seven doubles, one home run and 12 rbi.  He will wear uniform number 20.

Selected by the Twins in the eighth round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, Dozier was named the Sherry Robertson Award winner as the Twins Minor League Player of the Year in 2011.  He batted .320 (157-for-491) with 33 doubles, 12 triples, nine home runs and 56 rbi in 127 games between Single-A Ft. Myers and Double-A New Britain.  In addition, he stole 24 bases and scored 92 runs.

In addition, the Twins will recall left-handed pitcher Scott Diamond from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.  In six starts with the Red Wings this season, Diamond was 4-1, 2.60 (34.2 ip, 10 er), allowing 35 hits with seven walks and 26 strikeouts.  He will wear uniform number 58.

To make room for Diamond on the 25-man roster, the Twins will make a corresponding roster move prior to Monday night’s game vs. the Angels at Target Field.
