MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins, along with partner Delaware North Sportservice, announced the addition of new concessions available at Target Field this season.
The Twins and Sportservice expanded concessions and retail at Target Field this year by adding local craft beers and specialty foods from across Twins Territory.
"The Twins are thrilled with the continued evolution of the Target Field menu and merchandise offerings," said Twins president Dave St. Peter. "The high quality products, local favorites and unparalleled selection have played a significant role in making the Target Field fan experience so special."
The new additions include Valentini's Mega Meatball, which is a cheese-stuffed meatball served with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese.
And straight from the Minnesota State Fair, The Preferred Pickle will sell its deep-fried pickle chips with ranch dressing on the side.
The Twins also added a baked potato bar with several variations, including one with nacho cheese, salsa and sour cream; a cheddar and broccoli baked potato; and a classic baked potato with bacon, sour cream and chives. The bar will also feature a jumbo yam topped with maple butter and crushed pecans.
Garlic fries, a staple at many West Coast parks, will also make their debut at Target Field.
New from The Food Network brand is the Bacon Sloppy Joe and Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese. The Bacon Sloppy Joe includes ground beef and slab bacon chunks. It's slow-cooked with tomatoes and served with rolls, shredded pepper jack cheese and fried onions. Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese is tossed with spicy buffalo chicken, topped with blue cheese breadcrumbs and baked until crispy.
SuperMom's Mini Donuts, found throughout SuperAmerica convenience stores, will also be offered at the ballpark. They will come in three varieties: powdered sugar, cinnamon, and cinnamon and sugar.
Leann Chin will also serve chicken stir fry in a red chile sauce, or vegetarian stir fry in a teriyaki sauce.
Among new desserts, Pearson's Candy will be offering Pearson's Salted Nut Roll, which has a creamy nougat center surrounded by golden caramel and covered with fresh salted Virginia peanut.
The Twins formed a new partnership with B. Smith Olive Oil, a locally-produced minority-owned business. The olive oil will be used for cooking throughout the premium-seating areas at Target Field.
Many favorites will be back in 2012, including Murray's Steak Sandwich, Tony O's Cuban Sandwich, Turkey to Go featuring Ken Davis BBQ Sauce, Walk A Taco and Minneapple Pie.
State Fair-inspired creations such as the Minnesota Walleye, J.D. Hoyt's Cajun Pork Chop on a Stick and Cheese Curds are also returning this year.
The Twins are also upgrading their selection of available beverages, including a partnership with locally-based 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey. The 2 Gingers Pubs, formerly known as the Twins Pubs, will feature the Big Ginger, which is a signature cocktail made of 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey, ginger ale, with lemon and lime garnish.
Anheuser-Busch remains the official beer partner of the Twins, but the Twins expanded their selection of local craft beers with brews from Surly, Fulton, Summit, Finnegans and Schell's available at various locations throughout Target Field.
In the lounge 573, the Twins also added beers from Fulton, Lift Bridge, Granite City and Cold Springs Brewery.
"Every year, Sportservice challenges the status quo and builds upon its previous successes in retail and concessions," said Pete Spike, general manager for Sportservice at Target Field. "This year, we are confident that our newest menu items will continue to raise the bar in both the suites and general concessions."
