Twins recall Manship, option Tolbert
Right-hander made one start for Minnesota on May 1
The Twins recalled right-hander Jeff Manship from Triple-A Rochester and optioned infielder Matt Tolbert to Triple-A to make room for him on the 25-man roster, the club announced Tuesday night.
Manship, who began the season at Rochester, made one start for the Twins against Cleveland on May 1, when he allowed two runs over six innings. In seven starts with the Red Wings, Manship was 2-2 with a 3.93 ERA.
The 25-year-old, who has a career 5.26 ERA in 12 big league appearances (six starts), is expected to join the Twins on Wednesday in Boston and will wear uniform No. 49.
Tolbert was optioned after appearing in three games and going 1-for-4. The 28-year-old is a .252 hitter with two home runs and 25 RBIs in 114 career games with the Twins.
