Manager Ron Gardenire is looking to keep all his players busy, especially veterans like Craig Monroe. The outfielder/designated hitter hasn't played the last two games, but Gardenhire indicated Monroe would likely get a start against White Sox lefty John Danks in Game 2 of the series in Chicago.

"We've got role players; we've got platoon situations," Gardenhire said. "Monroe's here to help us out, however we can use him -- and I'm going to use him. I'm going to play him in the outfield, too. I don't want him sitting too long."

Monroe, who was acquired from the Cubs in the offseason, averaged 22 homers and 80 RBIs with the Tigers from 2003-06.

The Twins will go with Scott Baker as Minnesota looks to right the ship after dropping the last two, including a 7-4 defeat to the White Sox on Monday.

Pitching matchup
MIN: RHP Scott Baker (1-0, 4.05 ERA)
Baker picked up the win over the Royals in his first start of the season, allowing three runs and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. In his only previous start at U.S. Cellular Field, Baker picked up the win despite allowing seven runs and nine hits over five innings on July 6, 2007.

CWS: LHP John Danks (0-0, 1.35 ERA)
Danks is 1-2 lifetime against the Twins in three starts with a 5.63 ERA. He was 3-6 with a 5.83 ERA in 12 home starts in '07.

Tidbits
Justin Morneau is 3-for-6 lifetime against Danks with two homers and five RBIs. Jason Kubel is the other Twin to homer off Danks.
