MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins opened up another space on the 40-man roster Friday when they announced they had signed Josh Rabe to a Major League contract and then outrighted him to Triple-A Rochester.

Rabe, 28, played 24 games for the Twins in 2006. He hit .256 (14-for-49) with three home runs and seven RBIs. The outfielder spent the majority of the season with Rochester, where he hit .299 with six home runs and 47 RBIs in 93 games.

The move now leaves just 38 players on the Twins' 40-man roster.
