Twins short hops -- Game 4
A look at the trends of this ALDS
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins' bullpen was supposed to be as strong or stronger than their rotation heading into the American League Division Series. The Yankees exposed something.
As a whole, Minnesota's 4.65 ERA was respectable but not great among teams in the Division Series. But of the 21 earned runs Twins pitching allowed in four games, nearly half -- nine runs -- came from the bullpen. While Twins starters allowed 12, half came from Carlos Silva in Game 3.

By comparison, Yankees relievers gave up six of the 17 runs New York allowed total for the series. Two runs each came from Tom Gordon, Tanyon Sturtze and Felix Heredia.
Stats all, folks.

Behind the numbers
Juan Rincon hadn't allowed a run in 5 1/3 innings until the Game 4 debacle. But then, closer Joe Nathan performed stellar aside from one bad inning in Game 2.
Frozen moment
Ruben Sierra's game-tying home run brought a thunderous crowd in the Metrodome to a hush.
Second guess
The Twins were caught stealing three times in Game 4 against catcher Jorge Posada, who almost single-handedly kept the Twins from turning the contest in a rout.
Modern history
The Twins have lost their last five postseason games at the Metrodome dating back to Game 2 of the 2002 ALCS.
