CAREER: Joined the Major League staff in 1999...worked the Division Series (2003-2005, 2008-09), the 2007 National League Championship Series and the 2008 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium...worked the Miami round of the 2009 World Baseball Classic...previously umpired in the Pioneer League (1992), Midwest League (1993), Florida State League (1994), Eastern League (1995-96), International League (1997) and Pacific Coast League (1998).
PERSONAL: Born in March 1972 in Minnesota...resides in Florida...married with four children 1990 graduate of Cretin Derham High School in St. Paul, the same alma mater as fellow umpire Tim Tschida as a senior, was co-captain of his high school baseball team taught himself how to throw left-handed in high school after severely injuring his right arm in his freshman year...began umpiring Little League games in college proudest moment of his Major League career was working home plate for the first time does work on behalf of Umps Care Charities (umpscare.com)...participates in church activities and is a member of a Catholic men's leadership program called "That Man Is You"...enjoys spending time with his family and working out in the off-season.
