    July 31: Having already added Scott Feldman to the rotation and Francisco Rodriguez to the bullpen, the O's made another splash just before the non-waiver Trade Deadline, dealing for the heavily pursued Norris. Southpaw Josh Hader (O's No. 5 prospect) and speedy outfielder Hoe (No. 7) give Houston a further injection of youth.

  • D-backs deal Kennedy to Padres

    July 31: The NL West-rival D-backs and Padres improved their respective weaknesses on their pitching staffs with a swap just prior to the Deadline. In Kennedy, the Padres -- who have a pair of starters on the DL -- receive a former 21-game winner who's under club control through 2015. And with plenty of rotation depth, the D-backs are able to bulk up a bullpen that has struggled all season long.

  • Red Sox net Peavy in three-way deal

    July 30: In a seven-player deal with two AL Central teams, the Red Sox fortified their rotation by trading for veteran right-hander Jake Peavy from the White Sox, who got Avisail Garcia and three prospects from Detroit and Boston. The Tigers landed shortstop Jose Iglesias from the Red Sox in the three-team swap.

  • Braves boost bullpen with Downs

    July 29: Addressing their greatest need, adding left-handed depth to an already strong but heavily worked bullpen, the Braves added the veteran lefty Downs in a deal with the Angels. In return, the Halos get former No. 1 Draft pick Rasmus, who will initially work out of the bullpen in Triple-A.

  • Rays gamble on injured Crain

    July 29: The Rays rolled the dice on All-Star Crain, who had been one of the game's most effective relievers in baseball before going down with a right shoulder strain.   • Yankees bring Soriano back

    July 26: In need of a right-handed bat, the Yankees re-acquired Soriano in a deal for Corey Black, a right-hander who projects as a middle reliever, and cash. Soriano played with the Yankees from 1999 through 2003, leading the AL in runs and hits in 2002.

  • Orioles bolster bullpen with K-Rod

    July 23: In an effort to fortify their bullpen, the Orioles acquired veteran closer Francisco Rodriguez from the Brewers in exchange for infielder Nick Delmonico, Baltimore's No. 5-rated prospect. K-Rod, 31, has put up impressive numbers for Milwaukee this season, going 1-1 with 10 saves and a 1.09 ERA.

  • Red Sox boost 'pen with Thornton

    July 12: Thornton provides a Boston bullpen lacking depth with a formidable left-handed option. The trade comes six days after losing left-handed reliever Andrew Miller to season-ending foot surgery. Jacobs was Boston's No. 11 prospect at the time of the deal, and gives Chicago a potential impact bat from the corner-outfield spot.

    July 6: Nolasco joins a Dodgers staff that has battled injuries all year. A native of Southern California, the durable veteran has logged double-digit victories in six of the last seven years. In exchange for Nolasco and an international signing bonus slot , the Marlins added to their prospect stockpile with the addition of Josh Wall, Steve Ames and Angel Sanchez with the two former players potentially in the mix for a big league callup in the second half.

    July 2: The Dodgers continued their bullpen makeover in a trade of outcast relievers, acquiring former Cubs closer Marmol and $209,700 in international signing space for fellow veteran reliever Matt Guerrier. The slot money was key from the Dodgers end of the deal, with any return to form from Marmol -- who will work out his issues in the Minors -- a bonus.
