CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Jason Heyward needed to see just two pitches from Cliff Lee on Monday to help the Braves to a victory over the Phillies at Bright House Field.
He hit the second pitch of the game out to right field for a solo home run in an 8-1 Atlanta win.
It was his third homer and third RBI of the spring.
Dan Uggla hit a two-run homer to left field in the fourth inning against Phillies left-hander Mario Hollands to make it a three-run lead. Atlanta pulled away with a five-run seventh inning.
The Phillies could not get much of anything going against the Braves, which has been their story this spring. They entered the afternoon last in baseball with a .194 team batting average and .595 OPS.
Braves right-hander Brandon Beachy left the game after just two scoreless innings. He said he experienced some discomfort around his right elbow and biceps. He had been scheduled to pitch four innings.
Up next: The Phillies head to Lake Buena Vista on Tuesday to play the Braves at 1:05 p.m. ET in a Grapefruit League game at Champion Stadium (listen to an exclusive webcast). Right-hander David Buchanan is expected to start. He has impressed Phillies coaches early in camp and has an outside chance to make the team while Cole Hamels is trying to rehab from a left shoulder issue.
