50th Anniversary Weekend

50th Season Celebration Anniversary Weekend presented by AutoTrader.com

The Twins will celebrate our 50th Season with special events from Friday, September 3 through Sunday, September 5. Special elements include:

Friday, September 3 vs. Texas Rangers at 7:10 p.m.

  • 4:40 p.m. - The Twins will unveil a statue of Calvin Griffith, the original owner of the Minnesota Twins, on Target Plaza.
  • 5:30 to 6 p.m. - Fans are invited to take part in pregame alumni photo sessions on the Target Field Promenade (northwest side of the ballpark). View the players scheduled to appear in the photo session. (subject to change)
  • 6:30 p.m. - Fans are encouraged to get to their seats early to view the 50 Greatest Twins Players announcement, during which many of the 50 Greatest will be present on the field. View a list of the 50 Greatest Twins Players.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch - Wheelock Whitney, the very first Twins season ticket holder
  • National Anthem - Rick Oliva and Maria Versalies (children of former Twins greats Tony Oliva and Zoilo Versalies)
  • Twins Territory Flag Raising - Clark Griffith (son of Calvin Griffith)
  • American Flag Raising - Clayton Carr, a combat-wounded veteran and member of the Twins Platoon will raise the American Flag.
  • 7th Inning Stretch - Dick Wilson, author of "We're Gonna Win Twins," the official fight song of the Minnesota Twins, will lead the crowd in singing during the 7th Inning Stretch.
  • 7:40 p.m. - First pitch for the Twins vs. Texas Rangers matchup

Saturday, September 4 vs. Texas Rangers at 3:10 p.m.

  • 1:30 to 2 p.m. - Fans are invited to take part in pregame alumni photo sessions on the Target Field Promenade (northwest side of the ballpark). View the players scheduled to appear in the photo session. (subject to change)
  • 2:40 p.m. - Fans are encouraged to get to their seats early to view the Twins Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Former shortstop Greg Gagne, who played 10 seasons with the Twins from 1983 to 1992, will be inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame.
  • Giveaway - The first 5,000 fans will receive a Greg Gagne Hall of Fame pin courtesy of Fisher nuts.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch - Greg Gagne
  • National Anthem - Sara Pohlad
  • Twins Territory Flag Raising - Tom Mee
  • American Flag Raising - Mark Nelsen, a member of the Twins Platoon, will raise the American Flag.
  • 7th Inning Stretch - Newly-inducted Twins Hall of Fame member Greg Gagne and his family will lead the crowd in singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

Sunday, September 5 vs. Texas Rangers at 1:10 p.m.

  • 12:30 p.m. - Legends Game - Members of the 50 Greatest Twins Players and local Twins alumni will participate in a Legends Game prior to the Twins vs. Texas Rangers matchup. View a list of participating players. Notable Twin Cities broadcasters will serve as umpires including Don Shelby of WCCO Television, Randy Shaver of KARE 11, Jim Rich of FOX 9 News and Joe Schmidt of KSTP Eyewitness News.
  • Giveaway - The first 10,000 fans will receive a classic fedora hat courtesy of AutoTrader.com.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch - Howard Fox, original Twins employee and chairman of the team's executive committee
  • National Anthem - Jeanne Arland Peterson, wife of the original Twins organist Willy Peterson, will perform the National Anthem.
  • Twins Territory Flag Raising - Dick Ericson and Ed Weller, former Met Stadium groundskeepers
  • American Flag Raising - Brothers Jeff and Bill Barnes, members of the Twins Platoon, will raise the American Flag.
  • God Bless America - Former Twin Mudcat Grant will lead the crowd in singing "God Bless America."
  • 7th Inning Stretch - The original Twins bat boys Peter King and Richard King will lead the crowd in singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"
  • 2:10 p.m. - First pitch for the Twins vs. Texas Rangers matchup
