The Heart of Twins Territory

Twins Partner with Rock & Wrap It Up! Inc
Unused food from Target Field now goes to local non-profits

The Minnesota Twins and concession partner Delaware North Sportservice have partnered with Rock & Wrap It Up! Inc. to donate unused food from Target Field to local non-profits. Following each Minnesota Twins home game, representatives from Joseph's Storehouse in Brooklyn Park box up all prepared, but untouched, meals at Target Field. The next day, the food is delivered to local charity organizations.

Rock & Wrap It Up aims to help organizations aimed at fighting poverty by providing these meals to them and therefore reducing their operating budgets. By reducing the amount of funds needed for food costs, the organizations are able to devote their budget to services that attack the root causes of poverty.

Rock & Wrap It Up! Inc. works with 60 professional sports franchises along with various entertainment groups, hotels, and schools to donate unused food. This food then goes to support over 43,000 agencies in North America. Since the organization's inception in 1991, they have collected over 250 million pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste and they have fed more than 500 million people.

In 2011, the Twins donated more than 25,000 hot dogs and brats, more than 3,000 hamburgers and more than 1,500 chicken breasts, totaling more than 7,500 pounds of food for local charities.
