Welcome to the New Twins Baseball and Softball Camps

Presented by Select Heartland Chevy Dealers.

Short of actually being Byron Buxton or Joe Mauer, this is as close to the Twins baseball experience as you can get!

From tee-ball to the Major Leagues, baseball is loved throughout Twins Territory, This program serves as a way for the Twins to share their passion with the thousands of players, parents and coaches who love baseball and softball as we do.

Our program's promise is to provide a world-class Twins Baseball Experience that will forever own a page in the memory scrapbook of every boy and girl who joins us. Read on and see why the summer of 2017 could be the best summer ever for your young player.

If you have any questions, please contact Tim Rappe at timrappe@twinsbaseball.com or 612-249-9100.

Camp Philosophy

Camp Culture

Some kids will come to camp having never played ball before, and some will come with dreams of someday playing at Target Field. Regardless of experience and skill level, each player will have the camp experience of a lifetime. We won't settle for anything less.

A great baseball camp contains a recipe of fun, competition, camaraderie, and excellent instruction. On Monday when you meet the camp staff, you will find them full of baseball and softball knowledge and unbridled passion to share with your kids. While being such knowledgeable coaches, our staff really knows how to create a fun and inviting atmosphere. And, of course, kids love friendly competition. That's why, every day, we include fun competitions and award special Twins memorabilia.

The bottom line is that when we mix in one part competition, two parts fun, one part relationship building, and five parts instruction, you have a recipe for magic moments.

The Curriculum

It doesn't matter if your athlete is six and picking up a bat for the first time or 14 and is a top-level player, this camp will profoundly improve each player's skills and ability.

At each camp, we use a progressive system of hitting, throwing, and fielding. Depending on how well the groups achieve the various steps in our teaching progression, we will advance the curriculum to match that progress. In addition, we will spend time on position specific skills like pitching, catching, middle infield play, fastpitch pitching and slap hitting and outfield.

Safety, Safety, Safety

How can we have a camp with six-year-olds and 14 year-olds? Look at it this way. A K-8 school does not have second graders and eighth graders in P.E. or math class together. They may pass in the hallways, take the same bus, and be in the same yearbook but they are not in class together. Just like school, at camp, they will be in the same place, but not in "class" together either.

We also recognize that not all players of the same age have equal ability. For safety reasons, and because it facilitates the best learning environment, players will be grouped by age and ability. These teams will then stay together throughout the week with the same coach (e.g. Team Sano, Team Dozier, Team Buxton, etc.). There will be cross-pollination of instructors but we have found that the bonds created between teammates and their primary coach is one of the truly special dynamics at camp.

And yes, at our instructors' discretion, tennis balls, whiffle balls and safety balls will be used liberally at camp. Of course, we will use regulation baseballs and softballs but fear-free confidence is a critical foundation for fun and learning success.

Travel or Select Team Player? We're Ready for You, Too

There isn't much the Minnesota Twins can't teach you about baseball or softball. The bottom line is that no matter how good you are or how good you want to be, we have a curriculum and instructors who will get you ready for that night's game or next weekend's big tourney.

We understand that travel ballplayers' schedules can be hectic in the summer. We will protect your arm if you are scheduled to pitch and you can take it easy if you've got a game that night. Give us a week and you will improve, no matter your current level of play.

Instruction

Twins Coach to Assist at Camp

Each week we will travel to Target Field for a very special experience that will include spending an amazing time with one of the current Twins coaches.

Instructors

Parents know that when you find a great teacher, you try to keep them for as long as you can! Great teachers can be game changers in our kids' lives, and great baseball and softball coaches are the same.

That's why we carefully select, screen, train and monitor our instructors. Then we encourage them to unleash all the passion and creativity they can muster.

Each camp day for your child should be a masterpiece. These coaches get that, and they love it.

The bottom line, the men and women entrusted with the training of your kids are as good as they come. We promise.

Every instructor will have passed a background check.

Video Motion Analysis

Much of what happens in the baseball/softball swing happens too fast to be tracked by the human eye. To ignore the value of video in the teaching process is a mistake that we won't make. Every camper's swing will be recorded, analyzed and shared with the player and his/her parents following the camp season. We have found this to be a terrific way to extend the learning experience from the camp to home to the diamond.

Camp Details

Camp Fee

We understand that $395 is a significant investment, and we know that you don't want to hear about how expensive it is to put on a production like this.

Maybe this will help. Consider 30 hours of terrific instruction, Twins game tickets, a V.I.P. day at the ballpark, meeting a current Twins player, getting instruction from a Twins coach, a full Twins uniform, and the unforgettable friendships and memories - all for about what some of us pay a babysitter on an hourly basis ($13.17). And this is NOT a babysitting experience!

TIME TO SIGN UP

The registration fee is $395. You may pay the fee in full on-line. If you register before May 1, 2017, you may reserve your spot by paying a $175 deposit now and the $220 balance will be due on May 1, 2017 - your card will be automatically charged. The $175 deposit is refundable, if you notify camp staff prior to May 1, 2017, subject to the cancellation policy outlined below. If you register after May 1, 2017, you must pay the entire fee when you register for camp.

EARLY BIRD SIGN UP DISCOUNT

Register prior to 4/13/17 and receive a $25 discount. This discount may not be combined with any other discount.

GOT A FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT AT WORK?

Many parents use their employer's FSA benefit to save even more. Check with your employer to see if the camp fee qualifies as Dependent Care.

CAMP TIMES

Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT.

PARTICIPANT AGES

Camps are open to boys and girls ages 6 to 14.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DISCOUNT

If you register two or more children at the same time, a $25 discount will be applied to each registration fee. In order to receive this Family/Friends Discount the registrations must be submitted together by completing the "Add another registration" section of the form.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

You must notify camp staff in writing to cancel your registration. If you cancel your registration at least 40 days prior to the first day of camp, you will receive a refund equal to the registration fee you paid. If you cancel your registration 14 to 39 days prior to the first day of camp, you will receive a refund equal to the registration fee you paid minus a $75 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the first day of camp. Any amounts refunded are subject to deduction of processing fees.

EXTRA INNINGS (Early Arrivals and Late Pickups)

Camps begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. However, to accommodate parents' schedules, you may drop off your camper as early as 8 a.m. and/or pick him/her up as late as 5 p.m. An additional $5 will be charged for each early or late "Extra Inning." Just check in with the camp Field Director on Monday morning.

LUNCH

Campers should bring their own lunch and drinks. Please make sure to affix your player's name to these items.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In the event of inclement weather, outdoor camp activities will be moved indoors. Our curriculum has provisions for excellent indoor activities and instruction. We reserve the right to cancel camp days for weather-related reasons and no refunds will be given. Every effort will be made to complete instruction.

FURTHER COMMUNICATIONS

Once you have registered we will communicate additional important camp information via e-mail. Please enter your e-mail address accurately on the registration form. Also, be sure you are entering the parent or guardian e-mail address, NOT the camper's.

CAR POOLING

We will assist you in making car pool arrangements. If interested, check the "Car Pool" box on the registration form. Prior to camp, parents who check the "Car Pool" box will be connected with others who are interested in this convenience.

Amazing Twins Experience

Try this on for size...

Every camp will have a guest appearance by a current Twins player

Please note: Player to be selected by the Minnesota Twins and may or may not be depicted here.

A current Twins coach will participate in every camp

V.I.P Day Trip to Target Field for a behind-the-scenes experience On one of the five camp days, campers will be bussed to Target Field for a day we are sure they will never forget. Imagine sitting in the dugout just hours before Joe Mauer or Byron Buxton walk out of the tunnel. Or toeing the bullpen rubber shortly before Trevor May or Glen Perkins take the mound. Wow. Campers will have their picture taken in the dugout with a Twins player. Buses will depart Target Field at approximately 2 P.M. to return campers to their camp location.

Every camper will be given a full, MLB quality Twins uniform (jersey, pants, hat and belt)

If you are going to train like a major leaguer, might as well dress like one.

Four Twins tickets to one of several Twins Camps Reunion games

Skills Competition with Champions' Day at Target Field

Kids love to compete so we've made sure they have an opportunity to display the skills we will be teaching them at camp. Every camper will participate in a baseball or softball Skills Competition. Each week, scores will be posted on the website and after the last camp, the top scores will be invited to the Champions Day Finals at Target Field. Boys and girls will compete separately in appropriate grade groups.
