Twins players, coaches and former players visit schools in January, April, and May to promote healthy lifestyles and academic excellence.

Twins Reading Programs

Cub Foods Reading Program
Children 14 and under can register for the reading program at participating Cub Foods. Children in the program receive Twins-prizes for total minutes read during the summer. Readers have the chance to win an opportunity to meet Justin Morneau.

Qwest Readers for Life
Thanks to a partnership with Qwest and the Qwest Pioneers volunteers, summer readers at participating MELSA libraries receive incentives for reading and a possible visit from Twins' Mascot T.C.

Perfect Attendance, Perfect Game
In partnership with the Minnesota Middle Schools Educators Association, the Twins provide Minnesota middle school students achieving perfect attendance during the months of March-June with a certificate from Twins manager Ron Gardenhire. In addition, participants have the opportunity to win tickets to a Twins game and be recognized on the field.

Father of the Year Essay Contest
In partnership with the National Center for Fathering and Target, the Twins provide educational material to teachers to administer an essay assignment asking students to nominate their father, or father-figure, for the Father of the Year. Finalists are recognized in a ceremony at the State Capitol and on the field at Target Field.

A.C.E.S.
The Twins support Athletes Committed to Educating Students (ACES), an after school program in Minneapolis and St. Paul whose mission is to close the achievement gap of at-risk inner city students. Each summer winners of the ACES storytelling contest attend a Twins game and meet with a Twins player.
