In celebration of the Kansas City Royals' incredible postseason journey, Royals Charities is opening an additional grant funding opportunity for organizations that meet the regular Royals Charities grant funding guidelines. Royals Charities is in search of one or two exciting projects that are in need of additional funding in the Kansas City area.

  • Organization must be located in the Greater Kansas City Area
  • Applying organizations must have the 501(c)(3) designation or be a governmental entity
  • Projects for consideration must support children, education, youth baseball/softball, or military
  • Royals Charities does not fund operating expenses and is seeking to fund a tangible project through this program
  • Proposals can be for any dollar amount, but the final amount of the grants awarded will be determined by the money raised during the World Series week.
  • Interested organizations should submit a LETTER OF INTENT (no more than 1-2 pages) briefly describing your project by Friday, November 7, at 5 p.m. to
  • Only one letter of intent per organization will be accepted with the proposal of one project
  • Organizations that already received Royals Charities funds in 2014 may submit a letter of intent during this special postseason funding opportunity
  • Notification to organizations that will be asked to submit a formal proposal will be received by the organization on or about Friday, November 21
  • 10 organizations will be asked to submit a formal proposal
  • Final award notifications will be received by Friday, December 19

Grant Inquiry Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in Royals Charities, the charitable arm of the Kansas City Royals. The application process begins with a Grant Application (PDF) submitted to Royals Charities outlining the specific nature of your request. Please fill out the application and return to:

  • Royals Charities
  • One Royal Way
  • Kansas City, Missouri
To qualify for consideration, your organization must:
  • operate in the Kansas City Metro area,
  • be a 501 (c) (3) with a Federal tax exempt letter, and
  • not exceed a $5 million budget for the entire organization

Two Grant Cycles

Royals Charities has two grant cycles (Spring and Fall), as follows:
  • Spring - March 1 - grant recipients will be notified no later than April 30
  • Fall - October 1 - grant recipients will be notified no later than December 19

Once the application is received and reviewed by the Board of Directors, Royals Charities can call to schedule a site visit.

If an application is incomplete or missing pertinent information, the application will be returned to sender for resubmission in a timely manner or for consideration in the next cycle. Programs, expenses, or any supplies requested must support children, education, and/or military in the Kansas City area.

Royals Charities
  • Tangible items
  • One-time capital expenses
  • Special supplies or purchases for existing programs
  • New programs

Average amount for a grant is $5,000

What we do not fund:

  • Operating expenses or salaries
  • Individuals
  • Event sponsorships
  • Scholarships/Endowments
