Twins Community Fund Awards 20 Scholarships
"Diamonds and Dreams" Scholarship Recipients Will Be Recognized in
Pregame Ceremony
on Saturday, June 28
The Minnesota Twins Community Fund today announced that the Diamonds and Dreams Scholarship Program will grant $1,000 scholarships to 20 Upper Midwest youth in pursuit of post-secondary education. A ceremony to recognize the scholarship recipients will take place on the Metrodome field prior to the start of the Saturday, June 28 Minnesota Twins versus the Milwaukee Brewers game (6:10 p.m.). In its fourth year, the Diamonds and Dreams Scholarship Program received more than 150 applications from high school seniors across the Upper Midwest. Scholarship recipients were selected on a variety of factors including academic achievement, community service, and participation in an organized youth baseball or softball program.
The Diamonds and Dreams Scholarship Program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a department of Scholarship America. Scholarship America is a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization that seeks to involve and assist the private sector in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, or national origin. Scholarships are underwritten by the Minnesota Twins Community Fund.
Established as a nonprofit organization in 1991, the mission of the Twins Community Fund is to enrich local and regional communities by providing resources for the healthy development of children and families through an association with baseball, softball, and the Minnesota Twins. The Twins Community Fund is governed by a board of directors consisting of a majority of members from the community.
